Hi, my dear friends and visitors. It's the end of the week, so Big Fish Games releasing Collector's Edition of for now newest Hidden Object/Adventure/Puzzle game - Otherworld: Spring of Shadows, created by BoomZap Developer Company. Traditionally Big Fish tries to get maximum profit from the game and selling it only for $ 13.99, so you may not expect Standard Edition to be released soon. But lets talk about the game itself and we will start with the Gameplay video.

Maybe you noticed tendency of the last times - games, even casual games just like Otherworld: Spring of Shadows, becoming more and more mature. Often you can see lot of nasty gore and violence (in casual games - mostly shadowed or hidden to get rating, available for children). Games themselves becoming more dark, actions usually taking place in the night, underground - in the caves, labyrinths, abandoned mansions, dark forests and ugly swamps. everywhere you can see rust, dust, spiderweb, broken and destroyed things.

Playing and non-playing characters are usually cursed or infected, or traumatized. You and your surroundings are maniacs, killers, ghosts, demons, werewolves, vampires, evil witches, warlocks and magicians, giant beasts, loving the taste of the human flesh. You are in a grave danger, yourself or your friend/parents/relative/beloved one is trapped/cursed/dying/dead/lost his memory and must be saved before it's too late! Dangers are everywhere, many minor characters will die or already dead so you must move faster not to become dead too.

Fortunately Otherworld: Spring of Shadows contradicts this trend. Of course, there is some danger to one of the game characters, little girl Fiona, and she needs your help or you won't be interested in playing. In the end Shakespeare said that there is less then a dozen stories in the world literature, games and cinema has no principal differences from the literature and dramaturgy. But Otherworld: Spring of Shadows is surprisingly different from everything I described above.

First of all, Otherworld: Spring of Shadows game is sunny, very sunny, full of sunbeams, beautiful flowers, butterflies and dragonflies, faeries and wooden elves. Landscapes in our world is nice and familiar to us, Otherworld is incredibly beautiful and nice. You won't see any dark places or ugly monsters here, nothing to be scared of. Faeries, unicorns other beautiful creatures are citizens of the Otherworld and all of them are willingly helping you to find and save Fiona. No enemies (besides the mysterious shadow), no deadly traps - instead you will see incredible waterfalls, beautiful gardens and roads, kind magical creatures. Everything in Otherworld: Spring of Shadows is pleasing to the eye.

Otherworld is the Realm of eternal spring, hidden place, that can be shown only to the owner of a magical locket you find. This medallion is beautiful too, encrusted with gems and opening the way to the Otherworld. It's a mysterious place, unfamiliar to human race, realm of the endless gardens and forests, and they both full of a beautiful flowers. But unfortunately you have no chance to peacefully explore this incredible world - young girl has gone missing. Fiona was taken by a menacing shadow to the Otherworld and can't find a way back home. There is only one magical medallion leading to this world, and it's in your hands now, so you're Fiona's only hope.

And just think - all of this started with a simple deal - you bought a big house, you may even call it a manor, in a peaceful countryside. So you must head through the Otherworld to solve this magical mystery, to find Fiona and bring her home. Even during your way to Fiona most of hidden object scenes and puzzles are splendid and connected with the flowers or gems. Nothing mechanical, connected with steam or electricity, very unusual for Hidden object games.
Collector's edition of Otherworld: Spring of Shadows includes the game itself, bonus chapter (more gardens, friendly magical creatures and flowers), Integrated strategy guide to help you with any possible problems (don't think you will experience problems - game includes hints and ability to skip puzzles if you didn't like it), wallpapers (I mostly liked ones with elves) and concept art, musical soundtrack.

Let's summarize. Otherworld: Spring of Shadows is unusual casual game where you won't find nothing ugly - only beautiful landscapes and creatures - fauns, dryads, naiads and other magical forest creatures. Videosequence is full of light and beauty, music and sounds are pleasing to the ear. Gameplay is interesting (nothing extraordinary, but most puzzles are thematically connected with flowers and magic). So I may recommend this game to anyone, who is tired from dark spooky game with death, ghosts, witches and werewolves, but Spring of Shadows is absolutely recommendable for girls from seven to seventy years old. If you are female - you must try Otherworld, really. You won't regret it. Good luck!
